Introducing our Sponsored Rider blog!
We are very fortunate at Equine and Rural to have two fabulous riders supporting us and repping us when out at shows. We thought it’d be nice to introduce them in their own blogs.
Firstly, tell us a bit about yourself:
My name is Acacia Dew, I am 12 years old, I live in Gerrards Cross Buckinghamshire. I am lucky to have my ponies at home. I have been ridng since I was 6 years, my mum bought me my first pony when I was seven years, she was not the best behaved or easiest to rider, but I persevered and kept on trying. She set me up for my next pony Molly. Where it all really began and I have never looked back.
I am also a active member of The Pony Club (OBHS) I am currently working towards my C+ test.
What discipline do you compete in and at what current levels?
I compete junior affiliated Showjumping (British Showjumping) I am jumping upto 1.20m
Tell us a bit about your horses/ponies?
I am a very lucky and currently have 3 ponies. Molly (dun) 138cm aged 10, Alfie (grey) 148cm aged 9 and Bramble 148cm aged 4
What are your aims for the future?
My short term goal is to compete Alfie at Hoys 2022 & be selected for Windsor Horse Show Area 12 team 2022.
My long term goal is to be on the GB Olympic Team.
How is this season going so far?
I have had the best season ever this year. Molly 4th in the Silver League Final at Nationals and being the highest placed Pony Club Member in the League. Molly also qualifying for the Spring Board Final at Southview Winter Finals and we have our Discovery double clears for 2022.
Alfie has also had a great season we have all 4 Newcomers and Foxhunter clears for second rounds 2022 and two National classes for 2022 (1m & 1.10m Restricted Rider) I also need one more clear in Members Cup 1.15m for Nationals 2022. We start our bid for Bluechip qualifiers next week, Sapphire 1M, Coral 1.10m & Sparkle JC/JA 1.15/1.20m
Bramble will be going to her first show at the end of October 2021
Who has helped you get where you are today?
My Grandma is my biggest supporter at home she does my ponies when I am at school and without her this would not be possible.
My Mum who gives up her weekends taking me to all my shows, training, Pony Club and many more activities.
I have a couple of trainers and without them all this would not be possible. Lana Craker, Kylie Roddy & Rob Waine Dressage.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given in the equestrian world?
Don’t compare yourself to others around you, otherwise you will never be the best you can be.
For a bit of fun, if you could have any horse in the world, who would you choose?
Explosion W - he is amazing!
